Press Dolls, was a body of work made on and off between 2003-2008 that examined modes of production/reproduction as catalyst of repeated identity. By pressing dolls and photographing them, flattening once by pressing them, then flattening a second time by photgraphing them, the work aimed to symbolically pause thoughts related to stereotypes of mass production identity.
The Bachelor season five “bled” into scenes from Mary Poppins. Machine sewn, paper and thread. I tried to understand if somehow growing up with Marry Poppins affected our collective imagination in finding true love.
